Concept Overview

This typographic book cover explores absence, memory, and forgotten identity, inspired by Stefan Zweig’s Letter from an Unknown Woman.

The title is constructed from fragmented letters taken from common female names in Vienna, referencing the unnamed woman whose identity is never remembered by the male protagonist.

German was chosen to reflect the novel’s original setting, while partial visibility and layered typography create tension between presence and disappearance. Meaning is revealed through structure rather than direct readability.

Outcomes

Developed a concept-driven typographic system that translates narrative themes into visual form.

Strengthened storytelling through typography, hierarchy, and controlled legibility.
